Super League prop Kyle Bibb ends Whitehaven loan spell

Super League prop Kyle Bibb will play no part in Whitehaven’s end-of-season relegation battle after completing his one-month loan stint.
The 23-year-old was drafted in from Wakefield Trinity Wildcats last month and later stated he was prepared to remain for the rest of the season.
But homegrown teenage front-rower Danny Bower has since broken through in to the first-team and boss Ged Stokes has decided to look to the future.
“Kyle Bibb was on a four-week loan period and we felt the contribution of our own players was probably more important, players who will be here for the future,” he said. “We have some good, young ones coming through and will have to put players around them who can help them develop.”
Bibb debuted for Haven in the narrow home defeat to Sheffield last month, when they were without dual registered props Kyle Amor and Paul Johnson, who were needed by their Super League clubs.
And he went on to play the next three matches off the bench.
Bower has played in the last three games, scoring his first senior try in the defeat at Halifax.
Haven sit out this weekend and entertain fellow strugglers Dewsbury the following Sunday.
*It is understood the £4 million already pledged to Whitehaven’s planned community stadium by Energy Coast West Cumbria will not be affected by £52m of government cuts to Cumbrian building projects announced this week.
The Northwest Regional Development Agency is to withdraw funding from all “uncommitted projects” with immediate affect. But the cash pledged to the Pow Beck facility has been ring-fenced, sources say.
