here you can find groups who have successfully made applications to the Pot
A number of local organisations have already benefited from this year’s Community Pot grant funding allocation.
The organisations that have been awarded funding reflect the diversity of life in our community and we are delighted to have been able to support them.
So far 8 groups have applied for a share of the money, which comes from a dedicated Neighbourhood Management budget.
Here are some of the successful ones:
• A Mirehouse youth project that was organised by the neighbourhood management team and local police officers to encourage positive and responsible community engagement was awarded £500.
• The Richmond Pensioners Club was given £2000 towards the refurbishment costs of their community clubhouse.
• Mirehouse Community Centre Association received £1500 for their summer activities programme of events for children and young people throughout the summer holiday period.
• 1st Hensingham Scout Group were awarded £1000 towards the purchase costs of a new secure storage facility for keeping their outdoor activities equipment.
• Copeland Disability Forum received £1000 for the production costs of a newsletter.
• West Cumbria Domestic Violence was awarded £2500 to assist with their support services to local victims of domestic violence.
• The resident lead, multi-agency South Whitehaven Youth Partnership was given £1508 towards the costs of youth work planning with young people in South Whitehaven.
• The recently formed Whitehaven and District Community First Responders Association was awarded £3000 towards the purchase costs of defibrillators and communication equipment.
• The Community Pot, which this financial year (08/09) contains £40,000 supports projects which help to meet the aims and objectives of the Neighbourhood Management Board.
All community Pot applicants get support in making the application, and, where appropriate, afterwards while the project is running.
If you have an idea for a South Whitehaven community project that would benefit from Community Pot funding, Alan Forster-Faircloth would love to hear from you on 01946 591216.
