In a kells garden

Even town centres have plenty of wildlife and reporting on the 'wild side' of urban garden life each month is Gordon Nicholson
Welcome to a new monthly feature, In A Kells Garden. Those who enjoy watching and feeding garden birds will know there's plenty of variety in the Whitehaven area - none more so than the garden of Gordon Nicholson, of Kells, Whitehaven, who can even boast this albino starling!
Gordon said: "We have a lot of feeders out in the garden for nuts seed and suet. We get a wide variety of birds: Finches, Tits, Thrushes, and lots of Starlings every year. We have quite a lot of Blackbirds this year, this is the best year I can remember for young blackbirds.
"We also had a red squirrel visit our nut feeders a couple of years ago. We also have a couple of Hedgehogs visiting at night. We also get sparrow hawks visiting the garden, but I am not too keen seeing them snatching the birds from the garden, I know they need to do that to feed, but I do not like it when I see it happening."
